Paul Williams painter

Biography

Paul Williams painter

Location: Perranarworthal, Cornwall.
Style: Impressionistic

Since childhood holidays in St. Ives, Paul has always felt a close affinity for Cornwall. Drawn by the wonderful coastline and quality of light, he has been living and painting near Falmouth since the late 1990s.

Although, he considers himself to be a landscape artist he does enjoy painting a variety of subject matter. Often being pulled between painting in a loose, lively impressionistic style and focusing on capturing the intricacies of what catches his eye. He finds he is drawn to the subtleties and details created by light on the land and sea.

Paul paints in oils and strives to create fresh, colourful and unique views of the natural world. He’s developing a contemporary impressionistic style and becoming more expressive in how he applies paint and make marks on the canvas or board.

He enjoys sketching outdoors when he can, returning to his studio to take pleasure in the process of painting and experimenting with techniques and effects. He can always find new and exciting places in Cornwall to visit often returning to the same haunts as no scene is ever quite the same, everything is always changing, particularly the light.
