Burj Al Arab, Dubai

The first hotel on our list is the Burj Al Arab. The Burj Al Arab is one of the most famous landmarks in Dubai, known for its luxurious interior design and stunning artwork. From intricate interior paintings to dramatic outdoor sculptures, every aspect of this luxury hotel has been carefully planned and designed to impress. Whether you wander through the grand atrium with its soaring glass ceiling or admire the beautifully embroidered carpets in each suite, you can see that nothing has been left to chance. Each aspect of this iconic building has been carefully thought through and perfectly curated, making it a truly inspiring example of interior design at its finest. So if you're looking for a true spectacle of art and aesthetics, the Burj Al Arab is the place to be.

The hotel's lobby is decorated with a massive chandelier that weighs over 1 tonne, and the walls are covered in hand-painted murals. The Burj Al Arab also has an extensive art collection that includes works by Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, and Jeff Koons. In 2021, The Burj Al Arab commissioned nine new pieces of art using the same precious material that it's famous for: gold. The colours represent elemental forces in nature and are rooted to Greek philosophy, according to the artist who was hired by Dubai’s hotelier team - Louise Duggan. The paintings represent natural elements and the way they intertwine with the hotel's own aesthetic, featuring gold lines to illustrate the movement of energy. Anyone who visits this iconic building leaves their own trail behind them as they move through its halls, thus contributing to its life force and making it more vibrant than ever before. Duggan's pride and the standout piece for this project is her VIP lounge installation. She combined four elements in their full glory, using yellow with overflowing gold lines drip-down onto canvas to symbolise energy; reds for passion, blues for stealthiness (built upon deep currents) and greens as nature’s balance indicator, all mixed together beautifully on one large painting!

The Burj Al Arab is a stunning example of modern architecture that has been designed to resemble an ancient Arabic dhow sail. The height and width make it the tallest all-suite hotel in world, 12m taller than The Shard. This incredible structure was designed by British architect Tom Wright on the man made island off Dubai’s coast and among other luxurious hotels. He fulfilled his task by creating something revolutionary; he recreated heritage traditions found within Arabia itself. Khuan Chew, a famous Chinese interior designer and the brains behind Burj Al Arab's distinctive interiors has complemented this hotel’s impressive palatial proportions by blending in an exquisite material palette with vibrant colours. More than 30 different types of Statuario marble have been used throughout 24 thousand sqm ( Nearly 2 million square feet) - which is similar to what Michelangelo created for his masterpiece sculptures .

The design consultants are tasked with taking risks to break boundaries while designing them - just take one glance at  W Hotel Dubai would convince you. The warm and inviting space is designed to reflect the natural beauty of coastal regions, with hints of gold leafing throughout. Natural light streams in through glass windows that are installed high up on building walls for dramatic effect before falling onto stone floors covered by artisan carpets, inspired by rugged terrain found along Dubai's coastline. The centrepiece behind the bar counter - rather than being one solid piece- appears instead as though it has been cut out using an intricately detailed template; this modern twist upon traditional architecture pays homage to old traditions.
